How should slots/landing right work?
Iv decided im going to try and stay neutral in these first posts - il give you my opinion when I get time to write it (possibly tomorrow evening)
I know some ideas has been discussed but let´s begin with a summary:

1. I would like the freedoms of the air to be applyied.
2. I would like to see a limited number of gates to be loan according to the size of the airport. I mean if all the gates are busy you cannot land there except for an emergency landing or refueling.
3. Same for hangars. I mean the maintenance and the charge or discharge of cargo planes must be regulated.
4. I would like to see every airport with a limited number of terminals to be sold with the opportunity for us to loan some gates to other airlines.
5. No turn around time or we can add this time to the lenght of the flight or something like that.
6. Some airline staff.

All of this if possible of course.
@emm, I think youve not quite understood me (or vis versa), I think a few of your points realy deserve new thread such as:
1 - has definitely already been discussed.
2 - are we even having some sort of emergency system.
6 - staff system is quite a different thing as far as I am concerned.

As far as I am concerned there are a few options. Obviously weather or not there should be a limited amount of slots could also work:
Way 1, CA style:
A. An airline makes a 1 of purchase of a slot. They can land an unlimited amount of planes at any time.
B. As above but the slot only lasts x months.
C. As A but the airline can only land 1 plane per x (day?). Obviously it would need to be that airlines need to be able to buy >=1 slots.
D. As A but the slot has a time on it (for example, 11:00-12:00) and the airline can only land x planes during this time. Obviously it would need to be that airlines need to be able to buy >=1 slots.

Way 2:
A. Airline pays no upfront costs and simply pays x per passenger each time.

Way 3:
A. Airline buys right to land plane at 14:34, would only work with scheduling.

Feel free to post any other ideas.
The cost of a slot should be considered according to the airport category.
My issue with using categories is that some airports will be close to the boarder so a few passenger can make a huge difference in some places but lots can make no difference. (Difference between highest in 1 category and lowest in the next and the range of a category) Id prefer some sort of formula based on landings or passenger numbers.
Can we not have slot limits? I think that those with money should be able to purchase any number of slots wherever they wish.

Yes, but...

What about the freedoms?
What about the cost of using airports?
@Yang: an airport can only take so much traffic. No slot limits means near infinite traffic. There must be a finite amount of slots, the amount decided by gates and/or time

We already have had a thread about freedoms (I think the decision was made to restrict traffic). What im trying to get at is how slots/landing rights should be delt with - not where planes should be used.
So, as development inches toward the slots & gates systems, this topic needs to be rebooted.

So, a few questions to generate discussion:
-Should users buy gates and receive x slots like in AE, or should they be purchased (well, really leased) separately (buy gate, but for each flight, purchase a slot)?
-Should a slot limit be imposed? What factors would contribute to them? (N/A if buy gates and get slots)

Keep in mind, I'm talking about the Relaxed World here, so there isn't really scheduled flights.
