Flybe started out as Jersey European Airways, renamed European Airways in 2000 and finally Flybe in 2002. It was founded 5 years after BEA merged with BOAC to from BA. Oh, yep, it's a regional airline based at Exeter airport.
My grandfather worked for BEA, BOAC, BA and the RAF. So he's worked on small piston aircraft (De Havilland Rapide biplane), early turboprops (Vickers Viscount), jet fighters (Gloster Meteor, Venom and Vampire), early jet aircraft (Boeing 707, BAC 1-11, Tridents, VC-10), more modern aircraft (747-100 & -200 with BA) and Concorde.
