Nations we recognise?

RE: Nations we recognise?
The point is, no Chinese nor Taiwanese person that I know considers Taiwan to be Chinese. All polls on the subject have shown that pretty much everyone calls themselves Taiwanese (with the exception of die-hard Communists.) This is because Taiwan has never been formally acknowledged as Chinese (even by Mao Tse-Tung, who admitted that it wasn't) until the 1970s, where nationalism trumped reality, and Chinese society moved right towards racism and xenophobia. Modern Chinese society is extremely racist (you wouldn't know unless you've been there.) If you were to believe the Communist party, parts of 20-something countries would be Chinese. Besides, Tibetans and Chinese Muslims are considered (by Mainland Chinese people) to be foreign and savage. Members of these ethnic groups don't consider themselves Chinese, and the government discriminates them, which is why you hear about monks burning themselves to death. Admittedly, the South China sea islands had never been under Chinese control until the government of the REPUBLIC of China (no "people's" in it, which distinguishes it from Mainland China's de facto government) reached the islands and claimed them for the ROC (NOT the current Chinese government.) Even then, it only controlled 1 island and a reef adjacent to it. Speaking of territory, I have never seen any map in Taiwan or in America showing Taiwan as a part of Communist China. Only a die-hard, Muslim hating, xenophobic Communist (ex: Hsi Chin-Ping, Mainland China's current president and some, but not all members of the Communist party) would believe that. Check your school textbooks and take a picture/upload a map with Taiwan as a part of Mainland China. Furthermore, there are countries who don't recognize the UN on everything that it says (ex: Palestine, which has only existed for 6 years.)

RE: Nations we recognise?
A quick look at the maps I have ready to hand list show disputed borders around Taiwan. Again a quick flick through my encyclopedia shows that it remains neutral on the issue. The word "country" is never used to describes Taiwan however it is never claimed to be owned by mainland China. The best way you can see these differances across the world is by going here http://opennews.kzhu.io/map-disputes/ to see how Google deals with these problems. Lastly, with regard to naming your self, most people round here consider themselves Yorkshiremen, however Yorkshire makes no serious claims to be a country and are by no reasonable definition are we a country - again though this goes back to the point that culture doesn't define country's. Other countries define countries. It is that fact that makes me reluctant to support the addition of Taiwan as a county for the purpose of this game because most countries do not consider Taiwan to be a country.

Many governments (but not all, such as Costa Rica, Honduras, and Vatican city) do that because they want to keep trade relations with Mainland China (which has a larger market.) But generally, people (such as everyday Americans) consider them to be different countries. Communist China does not control Taiwan-it tried to conquer it with fishing boats at Kuningtow(yes, fishing boats-see here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kuningtou),but failed in the 1950s and were routed. Everyone laughed them off as a bunch of idiots. The same [belief] is shared by everyday people in Mainland China and in Taiwan, because they ARE not the same. I have never seen Communist flags in Taiwan, nor heard of a Communist party there. When we sing the national anthem, it is to swear allegiance to the three principles of the people-democracy, nationalism, and welfare to all citizens-rights unavailable in Mainland China due to its fascist-leaning dictatorship, which loves to ferment hate against Japan and the UK in order to distract its citizens from internal problems such as poor infrastructure/increased levels of corruption under "President" Hsi. Anyways, Yorkshire is NOT Taiwan. If you said Taiwan's a part of China to ordinary people in Taiwan, America, or Mainland China, you'd be laughed at.

Did I mention the fact that Mainland Chinese people eat dog and frog meat? It may sound racist to you, but it's sadly true. http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-33283694

Most importantly, the UN does not recognize Taiwan. The above post is not up for debate. The nations recognized by the UN are those recognized by FH. I don't care that people have cultural and political differences. I care about international diplomatic recognition, and the UN is the best place to look for that, and I don't want to see a post telling me why the most powerful international organization is incorrect in their decisions.

RE: Nations we recognise?
China is not recognised by 21 UN member states and the Holy See, which instead recognize Taiwan (the Republic of China). China claims, but does not control, Taiwan which is governed by a rival administration. The same applies to Kosovo, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Palestine, etc.

RE: Nations we recognise?
Palestine is different, it has a perminatly observer status in the UN which puts it on the same level as Vatican City. As such I would include any Palistian airports. The others (mot the best if my knowledge) are not UN members so I would place any airports in those areas under Serbia, Azerbigan ect. (ie. not recognise them as country's.)

RE: Nations we recognise?
Not all the people claim that Palestine is a country.
Also, the article that you provided a link to refers to the representation of China, not Taiwan. Besides, nobody even cares about the UN (see Iran, Saudi Arabia, Communist China, America, North Korea and Sudan for details^^.) Just saying.

A:
I'm done.
The UN recognizes Palestine. The UN does not recognize Taiwan.
FH recognizes Palestine. FH does not recognize Taiwan.
B:
You are not a diplomat, so please do not argue with the world's leading diplomats in their decisions about diplomatic recognition.
C:
By using the UN's recognized nations list, FH remains neutral. If anybody has a problem with that, they can go back to section B of this post.
D:
I've heard enough. Locked.
